Zadkiel-Class 20-Ton Lifeboat

A Mongoose 2e Design. The Zadkiel-Class 20-Ton Lifeboat is designed to get people away from a doomed ship and keep them alive until rescue can arrive. It holds 15 Advanced Emergency AutoBerths and so can house 75 survivors, is flown by an Improved Robotic brain, and comes with two Enhanced Ship's Mechanic Droids to keep the lifeboat and AutoBerths running.

The Sterling fission power plant is designed to last 20 years before it begins to fail. It will last another 6 years before power fails entirely. At the end of year 21, the drives will lose power. At the end of year 22, the basic hull loses power and only the AutoBerths will remain active. Each year thereafter, 4 autoberths will fail until after four years, all are gone. If the AutoBerths run out of power before rescue, the passengers will not be revived and will perish unknowing. The designers thought it better that way.
